Aching Heart Nominated For A Prix Europa!

‘Aching Heart’ for Hiltz Squared Media
Popular Swedish Doc Nominated For Prix Europa Award

October 1st, 2008 – Toronto, Canada… Oscar Hedin’s powerful Documentary ‘Aching Heart’, is about young European Muslims who dedicate their lives to a Jihad or ‘holy war’ in Europe and the reasons why they are willing to commit suicide to do so. The film, represented worldwide (outside Sweden) by Hiltz Squared Media Group’s distribution arm, has been nominated for the prestigious Prix Europa TV Iris Award for Best Multicultural TV Programme of 2008.

“We’re thrilled to be representing such a wonderful project and are happy the members of Prix Europa have nominated this documentary for such a distinct honour,” said Myles Shane, Vice President of Acquisitions and Distribution for Hiltz Squared Media.

The Prix Europa is an annual competition held in Germany to showcase the best of European Television, Radio and emerging media productions. It began in 1987 purely as a television festival and has grown to encompass various arts related works.

Synopsis:

Carl Panzram was a lifelong prisoner and a hate-filled serial killer. Brutalized in and out of various U.S. state prisons during 20th century America, Panzram unleashed a rampage of revenge that resulted in over 20 murders and countless acts of violent sodomy. A single act of kindness by prison guard Henry Lesser sparked a friendship that eventually influenced Panzram to write his autobiography. In 1930 Panzram was hanged for killing a laundry foreman at Leavenworth prison.

Fairy Tale is the first ever Gay & Lesbian dating series and was created by producer Myles Shane, when he realized there was no shortage of dating shows on television, however all of them featured straight relationships. I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU... is not your average wedding show. The program hosted by Canada's top up and coming comedian Trevor Boris, follows same sex couples before, after and during their marriage. Once the couple is Pronounced husband and husband or wife and wife, the couple is given a home video camera to record their daily lives for three weeks. Unlike other shows which solely concentrate on the ups and downs of wedding preparations, we let the viewer see who does the dishes and laundry!

The program, directed by Naomi Hiltz is currently broadcasting nationally on OUTtv and has already covered several high profile weddings which include:

- Four Israeli couples (gay men) came to Canada to tie the knot with the hope of challenging Israeli marriage law.
- Our crew flew to Winnipeg to shoot a wedding featuring two men who have raised 21 foster kids over ten years.
- Filming the wedding of the gay couple (Alex and Lynn) from America's top rated show, "The Amazing Race" in Ottawa.
- The first Gay marriage in the United Kingdom

Post No Bills is the award-winning documentary film about Los Angeles based “guerrilla” political poster artist, Robbie Conal. Robbie is a professional painter who has splattered hundreds of thousands of his caricatured paintings-as-posters across the United States urban streets. Along with his cult following of urban volunteers they affix his art to construction sites, traffic light switching boxes and any other surface area large enough to house these satirical images.
